Women's bowling finishes fall semester with seventh-place finish

MILLSBORO, Del. — The No. 14 Lady Railsplitters finished their stay at the Hawk Classic on the right foot.
 
The Lincoln Memorial University women's bowling team secured a 4-2 (206-208, 188-203, 223-201, 203-184, 200-197, 212-173) win over No. 11 North Carolina A&T to secure a 1-2 record in the best-of-7 Championship Sunday and seventh out of 17 teams in Millsboro, Del.
 
This tournament, where LMU left with a 6-7 record and compiled 12,704 pins in 65 games for a 195.40 average, is the Lady Railsplitters' last of the fall semester until they return at the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark., Jan. 11-13.
 
"This first segment has proven our potential, but it has also revealed the amount of work we have to do to be ready for March and April," LMU sophomore Christine Hansen said.
 
"Although we left a lot of pins out there we are excited about the future success of this team, especially as we transition into the second segment in January 2019," LMU junior Marisol Dodson added.
 
The Lady Railsplitters dropped the first round, 1-4 (193-213, 177-189, 195-178, 210-222, 182-209), to No. 10 Tulane before No. 4 Sam Houston swept the next round, 0-4 (179-213, 180-215, 203-204, 188-222), to bring up a huge victory over NC A&T to wrap up the tournament. 
 
"The potential of this team to achieve the highest level we have seen in program history is real," LMU Director of Bowling Joseph Slowinski said. "I am incredibly excited to see where we can go this season".
