Lincoln Memorial Women's Bowling Team Takes on Elite Competition, Secures 17th at Music City Classic

Harrogate, TN- The Women's Bowling team placed 17th out of 33 teams this weekend at the Music City Classic.  

The tournament adhered to the conventional NCAA structure, comprising five sets of five-game Baker matches on Friday, followed by five traditional team games on Saturday, and concluding with three best-of-seven Baker bracket matches on Sunday. 

This year's lineup showcased numerous elite teams from across the nation, with 17 of them being ranked among the top 25 in the March National Tenpin Coaches Association poll. Below is the list of participating teams: 

Adelphi, Arkansas State (2), Belmont Abbey, Carroll University, Carthage, Central Missouri, Emmanuel (Ga.), Howard, Jackson State, Jacksonville State (1), Kentucky Wesleyan, Lewis, Lincoln Memorial, Long Island, Louisiana Tech (7), Marian (Wis.), Maryland-Eastern Shore (15), Maryville (9), McKendree (20), Mt. Aloysius, Newman (14), North Carolina A&T (5), Oklahoma Christian (22), Prairie View A&M, Sacred Heart (18), Sam Houston State (10), Stephen F. Austin (11), Tulane (13), Valparaiso (17), Vanderbilt (4), Wisconsin-Whitewater (21), Wright State and Youngstown State (3) 

The tournament's lineup represents the largest gathering of teams under the NCAA umbrella for the year, boasting the participation of the top nine ranked teams and 19 out of the top 25 teams in action. 

The Lincoln Memorial women's bowling team picked up wins over No. 14 Newman (934- 903) and No. 22 Oklahoma Christian (998-914) Friday to start off the weekend. The team went 3-2 on Friday. On Saturday, the team knocked off No. 2 Arkansas State (1,028-999) and Long Island University (969-760) in the trad matches.  

The Lady Railsplitters kicked off the Sunday tournament games against the Univ. Of Central Missouri. They fell to their competitor but bounced back in the second round against Marian University to finish 17th  at the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt. 

Haley Powell bowled 200,202,246,192,213, in her five games. She had a total pinfall of 1,053, averaging for 210.60 pins. Powell placed 15th off over 300 individual bowlers from top teams in the nation.

The Railsplitters will travel to the Conference Carolina's Championship next weekend.
