HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball team (21-10) beat Lee (16-15) for the first time since 1999 and extended its nonconference winning streak to 13 games with a 6-4 victory Tuesday afternoon at Lamar Hennon Field.
The Flames outhit LMU 12-7.
Logan Augustine finished 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
Timmy Wages also drove in two on a pair of sacrifice flies.
Seth Hunt (1-for-2) reached base four times with a walk and two hit-by-pitches and scored twice.
Will Reddick (2-for-4) also scored twice.
Tyler Adams launched a solo home run.
Miguel Pimentel went 3-for-5 for Lee with a par of doubles. Dalton Ney (3-for-4) also recorded three hits. Peyton Meeker and Spencer Mossburg each went deep.
Hunt and Reddick led off the bottom of the first for the Railsplitters with singles and came around to score. Wages' first sac fly opened the scoring, and Reddick later came around on a wild pitch.
Mossburg led off the fourth inning with a home run. The Flames tied the score at two later in the inning when Fernando Ortiz bunted in a run.
LMU retook the lead in the bottom half on an Augustine single through the left side.
That lead was short-lived, however, as Meeker's two-run shot in the top of the fifth put the Flames up 4-3. The home run also ended
Ben Wiley's outing.
Wiley lasted four-plus innings and allowed four runs—all earned—on eight hits. The righty struck out three and didn't issue a walk.
The Railsplitters tied the game on Adams' solo shot in the fifth. LMU took the lead for good the following inning on Augustine's RBI double and Wages' second sac fly.
Jake Grenus improved to 4-0 with 3.1 scoreless innings.
Chase Randolph recorded the final five outs to earn his third save of the year.
Lincoln Memorial continues its 11-game homestand over the weekend with another crucial South Atlantic Conference series against Lenoir-Rhyne. The three-game set will kick off Friday at 4 p.m. and will resume with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
