HICKORY, N.C. – The Lady Railsplitters will try to halt a four-game losing streak on Monday when they pay the South Atlantic Conference leading and No. 12 nationally ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Bears a visit for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
Lincoln Memorial (19-13, 2-4 SAC) suffered its second straight doubleheader sweep on Friday at No. 19 Queens, falling 6-2 in game one and 7-1 in game two. Lenoir-Rhyne (30-5, 7-1 SAC), meanwhile, handed Anderson its first two SAC losses on Friday, beating the Trojans 10-4 and 6-3 to reach the 30-win plateau before April.
The Lady Railsplitters are hoping to snap a seven-game losing streak against the Bears, who have not lost a game in the series since April 5, 2014. Lenoir-Rhyne is a commanding 24-3 all-time against Lincoln Memorial with a 9-1 mark in Hickory.

- It's been an up-and-down season so far for the Lady Railsplitters. Lincoln Memorial opened the year by dropping six of its first nine games before turning a corner and going 15-2 over a 17-game stretch. The Lady Railsplitters ended the month of March by losing five of their last six games.
- In game one at Queens,
Jacie Pittman went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored and
Ty-Kella Goins collected a pair of hits and an RBI, but the rest of the team was limited to just two hits. The Lady Railsplitters led 2-0 midway through the second inning but Queens scored six unanswered runs to win the game 6-2.
- It was a similar story in the nightcap as
Grace Cochran and
Kelsie Hocutt had two hits apiece to account for nearly all of the Lady Railsplitters' offensive production.
Audrey Petoskey drove in the only run of the game and produced the team's only other hit with her fifth home run of the season. A three-run homer in the bottom of the first and a two-run dinger in the fifth powered Queens' sweep-clinching 7-1 victory.
- The Lady Railsplitters have combined to score just seven runs over their last four games. Prior to this four-game losing streak, Lincoln Memorial had scored at least seven runs in 10 of its last 13 games.
- The LMU pitching staff has struggled against SAC opponents. The Lady Railsplitters have a composite 3.21 earned run average and .283 batting average against overall but those numbers jump to 5.98 and .385 against SAC foes.
- Goins leads the Lady Railsplitters with 41 hits and nine doubles. The leadoff hitter is batting .383 and leads the team with three stolen bases. Hocutt leads the team in batting average with a .407 mark, homers with seven and RBI with 25.

Allie Jones are tied for second on the team with 24 RBI apiece.
- Lincoln Memorial's 23 home runs are the third-most in the conference. However, the Lady Railsplitters have only hit two homers in SAC play, which is the lowest mark in the league.
- The Lady Railsplitters are 4-5 on the road this season compared to 7-5 at Dorothy Neely Field. LMU hits .269 on the road compared to .311 at home. The team also scores 6.66 runs per game at home compared to 4.25 on the road.
Know the Opponent:
- Since losing three of its first five games, Lenoir-Rhyne has been on a tear with a 28-2 mark over its last 30 games. The Bears' only losses over that stretch were a 2-1 setback at Limestone and an 8-1 loss to Catawba.
- Mackenzie Cates hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs, Christina Walker went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI, and Savannah Moorefield also homered to lead the Bears in a 10-4 shellacking of Anderson in game one of Friday's doubleheader. L-R scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a lead it would never relinquish.
- The Bears scored two runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to complete the sweep of Anderson with a 6-3 triumph. Erin Boone went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Kylee Leonhardt was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Cates also added two hits.
- Simply put, Lenoir-Rhyne is a very good club. The Bears are hitting .321 with a .393 on-base percentage and .460 slugging percentage, ranking among the top four in the SAC in all three categories. L-R also leads the SAC in earned run average (1.29) and batting average against (.216). In SAC play, those numbers dip to 0.91 and .193, respectively.
- Boone is having a monster year for the Bears, batting .438 with 13 doubles, four homers, 20 RBI, 23 walks and just five strikeouts. Leonhardt – a freshman catcher – is hitting .358 with eight doubles, four homers and a team-leading 27 RBI, while Cates leads the team with seven homes and has posted a .356 batting average. Moorefield is hitting .333 with five doubles. All told, seven every day players are hitting over .300 for L-R.
- Junior lefty Emily Kenley and junior righty Brandi Parks have dazzled in the circle for the Bears. Kenley is 15-2 with a 0.93 ERA and 76 strikeouts over 113 innings of work, while Parks is 14-3 with a 1.69 ERA and 80 strikeouts is 103.2 innings. In SAC play, Kenley leads the league with a .157 batting average against.
- On top of all that, Lenoir-Rhyne is ranked second in the SAC and 24th in the nation in fielding percentage with a .970 clip.
