HARROGATE, Tenn. — After a weekend away from the game field, the Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team is set for its first South Atlantic Conference matchup.
The Railsplitters (2-1-1, 0-0 SAC) had to postpone their first conference pitch due to Hurricane Florence, but are primed to welcome conference foe Carson-Newman (3-1, 0-1) to the LMU Soccer Complex for their SAC opener.

Know the Opponent
- The Eagles come to Harrogate, Tenn., after a weekend off, much like LMU due to the weather across the East Coast, but they didn't go into the break with as good of a feeling.
- Carson-Newman dropped its SAC opener to Lenoir Rhyne, 1-0, last Wednesday after starting the season a perfect 3-0. It was the Eagles first opening-conference loss since 2015.
- Goalkeeper Twan Verweij is tied for first in the conference, allowing just two goals on the season behind a league-best .875 save percentage.
- Eagles' Ashley Kelynack ranks second in the SAC with three goals and 21 shots fired, while sitting in third place with seven points. Teammate Tobias Solem Karlsen is fifth with 15 shots.
Head-to-Head
- The rivalry between these two schools never takes a game off. LMU holds a 17-13-3 advantage over the Eagles, dating back to the first match in 1987.
- Last season, the then-No. 25 ranked Carson-Newman Eagles took the 3-0 victory over the Railsplitters. The year before, LMU took home a gritty 1-0 win on the road.
