Lady Railsplitters reset program wins record in 20-1 beatdown of Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — Ten different players scored goals for the Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team on Tuesday afternoon as it ran over an undermanned and overmatched Emmanuel College squad, 20-1.

With the victory, the Lady Railsplitters increase their record to 9-2 overall, setting the program record for wins in a season. LMU is 3-1 in the South Atlantic Conference play and will face conference foe Wingate at home on Saturday at noon.

Lincoln Memorial jumped all over the Lions (0-5) early, running out to an 8-0 lead after just 10 minutes of play. By the end of the first half Lincoln Memorial built a 14-1 lead on the strength of goals by Kennedy Buechner, Jacquelin Turner, Kelly Csenar (2), Amara Moss, Erin DePaul (4), Jasmin Click, Rachel Gardner (2) and Sierra Landsman (2).

Micayla Starnes had a relatively easy day in goal for the Lady Railsplitters, giving up a single tally at the end of the first half. Starnes was only required to make six saves in the contest. Over her last three games, Starnes has yielded only six goals, dropping her goals against average below 10.

Playing with a big lead early in the game allowed head coach Caitlyn Corace to rest some of her frontline players.

"We were able to get the whole team in and gave people a lot of minutes to help gain game experience," Corace said. "We know the next week with Wingate, University of Indianapolis and Lenoir-Rhyne, we have big games so we wanted to utilize our depth."

The second line players contributed in a big way with Sydnee Saksa contributing the first goal of the second half, Landsman scoring the last goal of the game to give her three for the day and Turner scoring twice. The final goal of the game by Landsman was the program's 700th all-time goal.

With three tough games dotting the schedule, Corace will be looking to Starnes to remain stout in goal.

"Micayla is a steady presence in goal," said Corace. "We know that she is going to bring that steadiness every day. It is a testament to her leadership on and off the field."

Saturday's home contest against Wingate will be available on live stream and live stats.
