HARROGATE, Tenn. – LMU grabbed the lead midway through the third quarter and hit key free throws down the stretch to hold off a very determined Queens basketball squad 55-51.
The Lady 
Railsplitters are now 7-11 overall and 6-8 in SAC play. They are currently in a three-way tie for seventh in the SAC standings with UVa-Wise and Lenoir-Rhyne.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• 
The Royals took the early 3-0 lead off a Tia McMillian three-pointer before LMU rattled off eight unanswered points with a basket from Lauren Flowers and two three-pointers from Lindsay Proffitt.
• Queens cut the lead to 8-7 midway through the quarter only to see LMU extend their lead to 14-11.
• The Royals opened up the second quarter with an 8-0 run They later extended it to 27-20 before a Proffitt three-pointer trimmed the lead to 27-23 at the half.
• LMU eventually tied the game at 32-32 with 4:32 left in the third period and the teams traded baskets for the next few possessions. A basket by Grace Day and four quick points from Tytiaira Spikes pushed the Lady Railsplitters ahead 38-32. They would extend the lead to seven, 46-39, heading into the final quarter.
• The Lady Railsplitters would pull out to the 50-42 lead only to see the Royals make a run and cut the lead to 50-49. The teams traded baskets and QU's Herning Wang hit one of two free throws to cut the LMU lead to 52-51 with 1:24 remaining.
• LMU then went into a ball-control offense and the Royals fouled Proffitt twice to stop the clock. She would hit three of four free throws to seal the 55-51 victory.
KEY PLAYERS/STATS
• 
Lauren Flowers led the team in scoring with 17 points in addition to six rebounds.
• Lindsay Proffitt chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds, including going 7-10 from the free throw line.
• Grace Day and Tytiaira Spikes each had seven points apiece.
• Kristiane Eanes led the Royals with 21 points, while Tia McMillian chipped in 14.
• For the game, LMU out-shot the Royals from the field 40.9 percent to 30.0 percent.
• The Royals fared better from behind the three-point arc (33.3% to 26.9%) and the free throw line (76.2%-66.7%) than LMU.
• LMU crushed Queens on the boards by a 33-20 margin.
• The Lady Railsplitters had 21 turnovers, while Queens had 15.

The Lady 
Railsplitters will stay on the road as they make the trip to Hickory, North Carolina, for a 5:30 p.m. meeting with Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bears are currently 8-12 overall and 6-8 in the SAC after falling to Wingate 54-44 earlier today.
