Three Railsplitters Mark Two Goals Against #15/13 Lindenwood

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse team squared-off against no. 15/13 Lindenwood University on Monday morning at Union College.

RAILSPLITTER RUNDOWN
Junior midfielder Nico Cicco marked the lone goal assisted by senior midfielder Craig Settles for LMU in the opening quarter of play at the eight-minute mark (8:28) to reduce the deficit to 1-3 after 15 minutes of play.
Senior midfielder Robert Tucker connected with junior attack Chris Tucker to notch the second goal of the contest with two minutes remaining in the first stanza. One minute and thirty-six seconds later, Tucker found the back of the net again for his second goal on the day with an assist from junior attack Ian Cook to close out the half.
The Railsplitters tallied two unassisted goals in the third quarter from Cicco at 11:31 and freshman attack Sam Skousen leading to a 5-13 mark heading into the final quarter of the contest.
Cook, Skousen, senior midfielder Hunter Clark and freshman midfielder Josh Bramley all slipped by the Lions goalkeeper Connor Ciemiewicz for a goal, ending the game with a 9-18 margin.

THE KEEPERS:
LINDENWOOD – Ciemiewicz logged 60 minutes in net recording 10 saves and nine goals-against on the morning.
LMU – Freshman Jacob Brown claimed the goal for the first half and tallied eight saves and allowed 10 goals. Senior Trenton Cameron clocked in for the second half in between the pipes to record six saves and allowed eight on the day.

TEAM STATS:
The Railsplitters tallied 31 shots, 19 shots on goal, 28 ground balls and converted on 20 out of 24 clear attempts throughout the contest.

LMU LEADERS:
  • Cook tacked on three points today consisting of one goal and a pair of assists with two ground balls.
  • Skousen recording a pair of goals on six shots and scooped a ground ball.
  • Chris Tucker marked a pair of goals with three shots on frame and a ground ball.
  • Cicco was perfect on shots on the day with converting two goals on only two shots for the Railsplitters.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
Today's setback marks an 0-2 record between the Railsplitters and the Lions.
