Brown Nabs 20 Saves In Face-Off at NGU

Railsplitters fall 10-2 to the Crusaders of North Greenville University

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse team faced-off against the Crusaders of North Greenville University on Saturday afternoon.  
 
RAILSPLITTER RUNDOWN
Freshman goalie Jacob Brown kept the Railsplitters at a tie to end the first quarter of play after recording seven saves on eight shots faced from the Crusaders. NGU marked 15 shots total just within the first 15 minutes on the field. Junior attack Chris Tucker tied-the score with just over five minutes remaining in the first quarter to mark his fourth goal of the season.
 
The hosting Crusaders rallied for seven-straight goals from the 12:31 mark in the second quarter to 3:53 mark in the third quarter until sophomore midfielder Joe Conklin converted on an unassisted goal for his third of the season with two minutes remaining in the third quarter for an 8-2 deficit for the Railsplitters.
 
THE KEEPERS:
 
NGU – Braeden Dixon recorded 17 saves on the afternoon for the Crusaders, allowing a pair of goals on 25 total shots by LMU.
LMU – Brown marked 20 saves throughout the day on 50 total shots by NGU, allowing 10 goals. Today's performance sits as second highest in saves in Railsplitter lacrosse history, behind Joe Medel who recorded 23 saves against Lenoir-Rhyne University back in April of 2017.
 
TEAM STATS:
The Railsplitters tallied 25 shots, 25 ground balls, converted on 23-of-27 clears and won 9-of-15 face-offs on the day.
 
LMU LEADERS:
  • Brown notches 20 saves in between the pipes today for the Railsplitters on 50 total shots from North Greenville.  
  • Chris Tucker notched one goal on three shots on frame for the Blue and Gray.
  • Conklin contributed with a goal and scooped a ground ball throughout the contest on Saturday afternoon.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
After today's contest, the Railsplitters fall to 2-1 against the Crusader of NGU in all-time head-to-head matchups.

LMU will head back to Harrogate and look to host Davenport University on Wednesday, Feb. 26., at 4:00 p.m. at the LMU Soccer Complex.
