Railsplitters Take Down Lions for Eighth-Straight Win on Tuesday Night

HARROGATE, Tenn. -  The Lincoln Memorial University's men's volleyball team recorded their eighth-straight win after their straight-set victory over Emmanuel College on Tuesday night.

RAILSPLITTER RUNDOWN:
The Railsplitters and the Lions switched leads throughout the first portion of the opening set until LMU put together a five-point rally thanks to a few Lions errors and kills by sophomore middle hitter Dawson Walker and junior outside hitter Logan Kerley to mark a 10-6 lead. Over the rest of the first set, there were five additional Lions errors along multiple marks from senior opposite Evan Cory and Walker with a trio of kills, freshman middle hitter Matthew Gentry notched a pair of kills and an ace to finish the first set on top, 25-20.
 
In the second set, the Railsplitters put compiled a six-point and 13-point run in large part to five Emmanuel College errors, a trifecta of aces from sophomore outside hitter Johansen Negron with a pair of kills in addition to Cory's mark of four aces and two kills for a dominating 17-point lead. LMU closed the second stanza of action at 25-10 over the Lions.
 
The visiting Lions counted for 10 errors to contribute to production for the Railsplitters in the third and final set. Negron (2), Cory (2), freshman outside hitters Cole Campisano (1) and Will Eiken (1) totaled for six aces in the last set. The Railsplitters closed out the match with a 25-20 mark to nab their eighth consecutive victory.

LEADING THE WAY:
Cory accounted for 11 kills, six aces, six digs and an assist on the evening.
Walker marked nine kills and a pair of blocks for the Railsplitters.
Negron totaled six kills and aces.
Junior setter AJ Risavy was the main distributor for LMU after dishing 28 assists and notching six digs.

UP NEXT!
Railsplitter volleyball will hit the court on Wednesday, Mar. 11, back in Mary Mars Gymnasium for a scheduled contest against Alderson Broaddus University at 7 p.m..
