HARROGATE, Tenn. – On Wednesday afternoon, the NCAA Board of Governors made a decision to limit the number of attendees at its upcoming championships for the winter season.  This conclusion effects the 2020 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Southeast Regional Championship held inside B. Frank "Tex" Turner Arena in Harrogate, Tennessee, Saturday-Tuesday, March 14-17.
 
The NCAA regional championship will continue as scheduled. However, a restricted attendance policy has been implemented at Lincoln Memorial University. The event will be closed to the general public and tickets will not be sold for the event.
 
Additionally, all cheerleaders, dance teams, pep bands and mascots will not be allowed inside the venue.
 
Each member of a team's travel party (20) will receive up to six complimentary tickets for entrance via a pass list. ONLY credentialed institutional personnel, student-athlete family members, credentialed media, broadcast and radio crews, and official team party members will be permitted for attendance for the three-day regional championship.
 
NCAA President Mark Emmert said in a statement Wednesday afternoon that spectators to all upcoming championship events will be limited to "essential staff and limited family".
 
"While I understand how disappointing this is for all fans of our sports, my decision is based on the current understanding of how COVID-19 is progressing in the United States." President Emmert added, "This decision is in the best interest of public health, including that of coaches, administrators, fans and, most importantly, our student-athletes."
 
All seven games of the 2020 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Southeast Regional Championship can be viewed live via the LMU Sports Network.
 
Those who have purchased tickets for the NCAA regional championship will receive a full refund.
