Margaret Paces Volleyball to Win over Limestone

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team notched a four-set win (25-23, 25-20, 21-25, 25-15) over SAC foe Limestone on Friday night at Mary Mars Gym.
 
Ketura Margaret paced the Lady Railsplitters on the offensive side of the net as she recorded 19 kills while hitting .405 on the night. The 19 kills mark a new career-high for the sophomore. Sophomore Katie Cardenas recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs. Emily Walter led the assist charge as she tallied 27 on the evening.
 
Josie Curran led the Saints with 15 kills while hitting. 393 on the night. Two other Limestone athletes nearly recorded double-digit kills but fell just one short. Paige Gardella posted 19 assists on the night for the Saints while libero Gabby Wessels tallied 23 digs.
 
The Lady Railsplitters jumped out to an early 3-1 lead, but the Saints were able to even things up at 8-8. Lincoln Memorial cranked up the heat midway through the first as they took a 15-12 lead. The Saints rallied and tied things up at 15 all, but the Lady Railsplitters turned up the heat and took the first set, 25-23.
 
Like how the first set began, Lincoln Memorial took an early lead, but Limestone was able to pull to within three. The Lady Railsplitters were able to hold the lead, but the Saints opened up with a seven-point run to take a 18-14 lead. Lincoln Memorial answered right back as the Lady Railsplitters tallied a four-run lead before taking the second set, 25-20.
 
Limestone went onto open the third set on fire as they took a 6-1 lead to open the set. The Lady Railsplitters bounced back to within one at 11-10, but Limestone went onto create the separation again to take a 17-12 lead. Limestone held onto the lead as they took the third set, 25-21.
 
Going into the fourth set, the Lady Railsplitters looked to make quick work and they did so as they jumped out to a 9-4 lead to begin the set. The Saints tried to close the gap, but Lincoln Memorial had an answer. Using a four-point run, the Lady Railsplitters took a 20-12 lead before finishing out the set with a match win in the fourth set over Limestone.

The Lady Railsplitters will return to action on Tuesday, October 5th at Mary Mars Gymnasium as they play host to Mars Hill in South Atlantic Conference action. First serve is set for 7 p.m. EST.
