HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball program fell to Mars Hill in SAC action on Tuesday night at the Mary Mars Gymnasium.
Katie Cardenas led the way for the Lady Railsplitters as she recorded 12 kills on the night and tagged on 12 digs to earn her second straight double double.
Richlyn Ross helped out the LMU offense as she tacked on nine kills. Libero
Sevgi Koyuncu tallied a new career-high in digs as she dug up 33 attacks on the night. Koyuncu also tied her career-high in assists with seven.
Jana Cuk paced the Lions on the night as she recorded 16 kills while posting a .382 hitting percentage. Grace Lilly and Sarah Goddard also both tallied double-digit kills for Mars Hill. The Lion libero, Ully Martins, tallied 32 digs and six assists in the match.
The Lions opened up the first set with a 9-2 advantage and never looked back. The Lady Railsplitters battled in the back half of the set, coming to within six of Mars Hill, but the Lions were able to seduce the LMU attack and capture the first set, 25-13.
The second set started out with Mars Hill going up 2-0 before a nine-point run put the Lady Railsplitters up 9-2. Much like the first, the second set saw Lincoln Memorial take an early lead and held onto it at the halfway point at 15-9. The Lions battled back to pull to within three, but the Lady Railsplitters captured the final three points of the set to win, 25-20.
Coming into the third set, both teams looked to make some noise as Lincoln Memorial and the Lions were trading points back and forth until Mars Hill was able to create some separation, making it 13-10. The Lady Railsplitters mounted a comeback, but it fell short, as the Lions captured the third set, 25-22.
Lincoln Memorial jumped out to an early 7-4 lead over Mars Hill to begin the fourth set, but using a five-point run, the Lions were able to take a 16-11 lead. The Lady Railsplitters mounted yet another comeback and pulled to within three, but Mars Hill was able to connect and capitalize to capture the set and match over the Lady Railsplitters, 25-19.

The Lady Railsplitters will open a two-game road stand beginning in Wingate, N.C. as Lincoln Memorial will take on Wingate in SAC action on Friday, October 8 with first serve set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
