HARROGATE, Tenn. – After dropping a five-set thriller to King earlier in the season, the Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball program returned the loss, but with a three-set sweep over the Tornado on Wednesday evening.
Kristen Moehring and
Ketura Margaret paced the Lady Railsplitters on Wednesday night as Moehring tallied 10 kills while Margaret recorded eight. Moehring recorded a new career-high with a .563 hitting percentage in the match. Junior
Sierrah Lemons helped lead a Blue and Gray defense with three total blocks and added five kills on a .556 hitting percentage.
Haliee Blankenship lead the Tornado with 10 kills on 32 attacks. Libero Jersey Wines led the King defense with 12 digs while Zepahnie Snyder and Abigial Belcher each picked up three blocks. Belcher also added nine kills.
Despite jumping out to a 4-1 lead, the Tornado were able to keep things even before a six-point run by the Lady Railsplitters gave Lincoln Memorial a 10-6 lead. The Lady Railsplitters were able to create some sepeartion with another four-point run to extend their led to 14-8. Lincoln Memorial was able to keep the Tornado offense off the ground as they took the fist set, 25-15.
Jumping out to a 6-1 lead, the Lady Railsplitters were able to control the second set. Allowing the Tornado to go on just two big scoring runs, Lincoln Memorial was paced by senior
Emily Walter near the end of the set as she led a five-point run before King tried to mount a comeback, but it was the Lady Railsplitters forcing a service ace to give them a two-set lead, 25-19.
The third set was all LMU to start out. Using an early four-point run, the Lady Railsplitters were able to jump out to a 5-1 lead powered by the duo of Moehring and
Richlyn Ross. Keeping the separation where they need it, Lincoln Memorial was able to push the lead to nine before King was able to shorten the lead. The Tornado were able to bring the score to within three, but the Lady Railsplitters were able to close out the third set for the match win, 25-20.

The Lady Railsplitters will begin a six-game road stretch at SAC opponent Anderson on Friday, October 15 with a 6:00 p.m. first serve. LMU will stay in South Carolina and play Newberry a day later on the 16th.
