HICKORY, N.C. – The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team battled for 90 minutes but fell, 4-0, on the road Saturday evening at Lenoir-Rhyne.
The Lady Railsplitters and the Bears began the contest in a defensive battle as it was not until the 42nd minute when the scoreless tie was broken, but it was Lenoir-Rhyne that tallied the mark from Ria Acton. Lincoln Memoiral tallied just five shots in the just frame while the Bears fired off 11 shots.
Lenoir-Rhyne continued their offensive pressure on the pitch as they were able to take a 2-0 advantage, just 30 seconds into the second frame. LMU saw many close opportunities, but the Bears were able to extend their lead by two to 4-0 over Lincoln Memorial. The Lady Railsplitters revved up their offense as they tallied eight shots in the second half.
Lenoir-Rhyne recorded 21 total shots with 10 on goal for the night, while the Lady Railsplitters got off 13 shots with five on goal.
Bente Latenstein got the starting nod in goal for LMU and recorded six saves on the night. The Bears committed nine fouls on the night, while the Lady Railsplitters committed just five.
