Lady Railsplitters Fall to Anderson, 3-0

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team got the Halloween weekend started on Friday night with a match against Anderson, but fell in three sets (20-25, 26-28, 10-25) to the Trojans.
 
Sophomore Katie Cardenas paced the Lady Railsplitters with 10 kills on a .250 hit percentage for the match. Freshman Chloe Britton tallied 18 assists on the night to help the Splitter offense. Sierrah Lemons and Kaley Long led the Blue and White defense as they duo combined to post four total blocks in the contest.
 
The Trojans were led by Jaelyn Grimm who tallied 14 kills while posting a .500 hitting percentage and added five total blocks. Anderson setter Madison Roy tallied 40 assists in the match while also helping the Trojan defense with four total blocks.
 
Lincoln Memorial was able to keep things interesting in the first set as they took an early lead, but the Trojans came alive, taking an 8-5 lead over LMU. Both programs traded points before Anderson was able to create some separation with a three-point run to make it 21-16. The Lady Railsplitters responded with their own run and the score came to 21-20. A kill by the Trojans sparked them to make a run as they went onto capture the first set, 25-20.
 
The Splitters jumped out to another early lead, pushing it to 6-4 before Anderson used a three-point run to take the lead. Lincoln Memorial was able to stay in the set as they retook the lead, 14-12. Keeping things interesting, the Trojans were able to even things up at 24 all, forcing extra rallies in the second set. Taking the next four of five points, Anderson was able to close out the second set, 28-26.
 
Lincoln Memorial was able to even the score up at 4-4 in the third set before Anderson used a five-point run to jump out to a 9-4 lead. The following point went to LMU, but the Trojans continued their offensive output with seven-point run to take a 16-5 lead. The Lady Railsplitters tried to mount a late comeback, but Anderson was able to hold on to take the third set, and match, 25-10.

Lincoln Memorial will welcome Newberry to Mary Mars Gymnasium on Saturday, October 30th. The match will also mark this year's Senior Day as we will honor our three seniors. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.
