WISE, Va. – The Lincoln Memorial University women's volleyball team sealed their ninth victory of the 2021 fall campaign Friday evening on the road against the Cavaliers of UVA-Wise, dominating on three-straight sets for the sweep.
The Lady Railsplitters (9-18, 5-12 SAC) completed their second sweep over UVA-Wise in the space of two months, after LMU previously defeated the Cavaliers 3-0 (Sept. 24).
It was all Blue & Grey for the first two sets in Virginia, as the Cavaliers never came within eight points of a set, resulting in an LMU victory in the first (25-13) and in the second (25-16). UVA-Wise finally hit the 20-mark in the third and final set, but still fell short of the victorious Lady Railsplitters (25-20).
Gabriela Abreu led LMU on kills Friday evening with a total of 13, with
Ketura Margaret close behind at 11 kills.
Emily Walter was all over floor for the Lady Railsplitters, leading LMU with two aces, three blocks and 27 assists.
Sevgi Koyuncu tallied the most digs for the Blue & Grey (15), with
Karen Morris (14) and
Gabriela Abreu (13) not far behind.
