Women's Basketball Conclude SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge in Defeat to King

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team dropped their second match of the season and the final game of the 2021 South Atlantic Conference/Conference Carolinas Challenge to King, 71-49 Saturday afternoon inside Tex Turner Arena.
 
Following her 22-point performance in yesterday's season-opening victory over Converse, graduate transfer guard Irelynn Davisson was in double-figure yet again for the Lady Railsplitters, pouring in 15 points Saturday afternoon against the Tornadoes.
 
Davisson set the tempo early on for LMU, coming out into the second contest of the young season scorching hot, drilling three-consecutive three-pointers in the first quarter. Following the conclusion of the first 10 minutes of action, the Lady Railsplitters only trailed King by five at the first break.
 
The Tornadoes never looked back once the second quarter resumed, outscoring the Lady Railsplitters 21-10 for a halftime advantage of 16.
 
In the second half, King outscored LMU 28-22, wrapping up the victory 71-49. LMU (1-1, 0-0 SAC) open up conference action Wednesday afternoon against Anderson inside Tex Turner.
 
Graduate guard Irelynn Davisson lead LMU once again Saturday afternoon in the points column with 15, also contributing four rebounds. Point guard Lauren Flowers lead the Lady Railsplitter in minutes played (38) and assists (4). The junior also recorded 10 points and four rebounds.
 
Senior Lindsay Proffitt recorded her first start of the 2021-22 season Saturday afternoon, contributing nine points and two rebounds. Graduate Mikayla Kuehne was all over the court against King, collecting seven points, two blocks, three assists and seven rebounds. Junior Grace Day rounded out LMU's starting lineup with two points, two blocks, one assist and six rebounds in 29 minutes played.
