HARROGATE, TENN. – Playing their third game in six days, the Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team battled a good Anderson team all game long, but ultimately fell short in their SAC opener 61-58.

The Trojans took control of the first quarter and never let the Lady Railsplitters get in a rhythm throughout the first 10 minutes, as they led 13-3 at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter belonged to LMU, as the offense erupted for 26 points, led by senior
Lindsay Proffitt's 14 points. The Lady Railsplitters started the quarter on a 12-3 run to cut the Trojan lead down to one. The teams would trade baskets for a couple of minutes before jumpers by
Irelynn Davisson and Proffit would give the Lady Railsplitters their first lead of the game 25-21. After Anderson came back,
Mikayla Kuehne made two baskets late in the period to give LMU the 29-28 lead at the half.

The Trojans started the third quarter on an 11-3 run to take a seven-point lead early in the quarter. The Lady Railsplitters would again battle back as they got three-pointers from
Lauren Flowers, Proffitt, and Davisson in the final couple of minutes of the quarter to cut the deficit down to five, as they trailed 48-43 going into the final period.

The fourth quarter was a back and forth battle down to the final possession. The Lady Railsplitters got two early buckets from Davisson and another from Proffitt in between two Trojan baskets to bring the lead down to four. After a jumper from Anderson,
Geovana Rios would hit a jumper of her own, and convert a free throw thirty seconds later to bring the lead down to three, but that was as close as LMU would get.

After the Trojans brought the lead back up to six, Kuehne would hit a three pointer with just under a minute remaining to cut it back down the three. The Lady Railsplitters would get a defensive stop and called timeout to set a play. The play worked perfectly, and gave Proffitt a clean look at a three pointer, but the refs ruled she caught the ball while standing on the sideline, giving the ball back to Anderson with two seconds remaining. The Trojans were able to run out the remaining time on the clock to seal the game.

Proffitt led all scorers with a career-high tying 23 points including knocking down four from behind the arc. Davisson was the only other LMU player in double-figures as she scored 11 points. The Lady Railsplitters pulled down 41 rebounds led by
Grace Day's eight, while
Shaquala Walton added seven, and Kuehne pulled down six. Rios was making plays for her teammates all night as she dished out a career-high seven assists.
