HARROGATE, Tenn. – Coming off their third IVA Championship in four years, the Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball program unveiled the path of the 2022 season, which is set to begin Friday, January 7. The Railsplitters' 2022 campaign features matches against two NCAA Tournament teams and the defending NCAA Champion, Hawaii.
"This will be the most daunting schedule we have had to date," said head coach
John Cash. "Featuring two final four teams (Hawai'i and Lewis), a host of other top 15 ranked teams, and the defending national championship team (Hawai'i). Playing every team in the MIVA conference, and some of them more than once, will help us get prepared for the long season ahead. Not to mention the constant improvement in the Conference Carolina's and IVA team's, there are no days off!"
The Railsplitters face a challenging schedule in 2022 beginning the season with national semifinalist Lewis (Jan. 7). LMU will stay home to begin the season as the first 10 matches of the season will be played in Mary Mars Gymnasium. After playing the first 10 matches at home, Lincoln Memorial will then go on a nine-game road trip and will kick off the road trip with a triple-header against the defending NCAA Champions Hawai'I with the first match taking place on Friday, February 18 and the final match on Sunday, February 20. The Railsplitters will come back to the mountains of Tennessee and travel to nearby Greeneville for a midweek match with Tusculum on Tuesday, March 1.
Lincoln Memorial will face their sixth MIVA program of the season when they travel to Columbus, Ohio for a double-header against Ohio State on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5. The Railsplitters will close out the nine-game road trip with an appearance at the Lindenwood Invite in St. Charles, Missouri from Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 13.
The Railsplitters will take a break from the road as they will play MIVA power Quincy on Wednesday, March 16 inside Mary Mars Gymnasium. After hosting Quincy, Lincoln Memorial will hit the road for a four-game trip as they will face Emmanuel (Mar. 22), Queens (Mar. 25), Limestone (Mar. 26) and King (Mar. 29). Lincoln Memorial will look to capture their fourth IVA title in five years at the IVA Championships, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte from Friday, April 23 to Saturday, April 24.
"With all, I feel as if the chemistry and talent on our team is there to more than compete with many on the schedule, said head coach
John Cash. "Discipline; Getting better every day will be the key to our success. This is definitely a special group of young men, but we will see how special we can be on the court this year!"
First serve against Lewis on January 7 is set for 7 p.m. EST inside Mary Mars Gymnasium.
