Lady Railsplitters Post Season-Best Offensive Performance In Demolition Of Queens

Hit program record 19 three pointers in road victory

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - In easily their best performance of the season, the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team (7-7, 6-7 South Atlantic Conference) defeated Queens (1-9, 1-8) by a score of 96-49. The Lady Railsplitters shot 58 percent from the field and 58 percent from behind the three point arc in the triumph as they made a program record 19 three pointers.

After Queens scored the first basket of the game on a jumper from Lauren Fields, LMU went on a 15-0 run. A Lexi Kiser three foreshadowed how the day would go as it swished cleanly through the net. Mikayla Kuehne made another less than a minute later to increase the lead to four. After three points by Jordan Maney, Lauren Flowers continued the three point parade and gave the Lady Railsplitters a double-digit lead that it would keep the entire contest. Maney then hit a three of her own to cap off the huge run. Another Fields basket was followed by the fifth three pointer of the quarter as Maney drained another from behind the arc. A Kuehne three and two easy baskets from Maney extended the lead to 25-4. An Amari Davis jumper ended that run, but Maney responded with her third three of the period. A Caitlyn Moore jumper then kept the Royals within 20, but Lindsay Proffitt closed the quarter with five points to make it 33-8 after one. LMU shot 80 percent for the period, including 8-10 from behind the arc.

A Proffitt layup extended the lead early before Queens scored consecutive baskets for the first time in the game. Kiser then made three straight from behind the arc and was fouled on the final one, completing a four-point play after the media timeout. The Royals scored twice around a Flowers three pointer; then Maney scored, Kuehne hit a three, and Proffitt made two free throws to extend the lead to a colossal 55-16 with just under two minutes until halftime. Davis scored for Queens, and then Nakia Weston hit a three to continue the early parade. A Tia McMillian three closed the scoring for the half and saw the Lady Railsplitters go into the half with a 58-21 lead.

Davis opened the scoring in the second half, however, Maney and Kuehne made jumpers to extend the lead back to 39. Two Kuehne threes and a Kiser jumper gave LMU a 70-23 lead with 17 minutes to play in the game. Davis scored once again, but Maney continued the hot streak with a three. Flowers' third three pointer of the contest gave the Lady Railsplitters their first 50 point lead of the game. Queens scored three points before Kiser made two free throws to make the score 78-28. An 8-0 Royal run trimmed the lead, but Proffitt ended the period with a basket to get LMU to the 80 point barrier with one quarter left to play.

Fields continued her hot streak with a basket to open the final period, then Kassidy Kenny and Kuehne each scored, making the score 84-38. Queens then ripped off seven points as they continued to fight, but Kiser and Flowers scored to nearly double up the score at 88-45. Five more points from Kuehne and a layup from Maney extended the lead back to 50, but Davis scored twice. Kuehne finished her excellent game with a free throw to provide the final margin.

Kuehne and Maney both finished with 25 points while combining to shoot 19-26 from the field and 10-15 from the three point line with 13 rebounds and nine assists. Kiser had 19 points, four rebounds, and six assists while Proffitt finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and a career-high five assists. Flowers posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while finishing with seven assists.
