GAFFNEY, S.C. - In their first contest against a nationally-ranked opponent, the Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse team fell 23-2 to No. 16 Limestone on Saturday. With the loss, LMU drops to 0-4 (0-4 South Atlantic Conference) on the season.
Trailing 2-0 early,
Nico Cicco scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season to cut the lead in half. However, the Saints would embark on an 11-0 run to close the first half and went into the locker room with a 13-1 lead.
Matt Bradley tacked on a goal in the third period, but it wasn't nearly enough to offset ten more Limestone scores.
Preseason all-conference selection
Jordan Sullivan led the Railsplitter charge on the defensive end as he notched a team-high six ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Nathan Caldwell and
Caldon Whyte each chipped in with four ground balls, while
Ryan Gossett and
