Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 16 Limestone

Cicco, Bradley score in conference loss

GAFFNEY, S.C. - In their first contest against a nationally-ranked opponent, the Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse team fell 23-2 to No. 16 Limestone on Saturday. With the loss, LMU drops to 0-4 (0-4 South Atlantic Conference) on the season.

Trailing 2-0 early, Nico Cicco scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season to cut the lead in half. However, the Saints would embark on an 11-0 run to close the first half and went into the locker room with a 13-1 lead. Matt Bradley tacked on a goal in the third period, but it wasn't nearly enough to offset ten more Limestone scores.

Preseason all-conference selection Jordan Sullivan led the Railsplitter charge on the defensive end as he notched a team-high six ground balls and caused two turnovers. Nathan Caldwell and Caldon Whyte each chipped in with four ground balls, while Ryan Gossett and Gerardo Vazquez had three each. Trenton Cameron and Whyte were each credited with seven saves in goal.

The Railsplitters have a long break before getting back to action on Sunday, Mar. 28 against Wingate. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
