Gillman Records 21 Saves in Lady Railsplitter Loss at Limestone

Four Lady Railsplitters Score, Gillman Records 21 Saves in Loss to #13 Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University Lady Railsplitter lacrosse program suffers 4-14 loss to no. 13 Limestone after giving up nine second-half goals.
 
THE RUNDOWN
Graduate attack Julia Bain connected with senior attack Erin DePaul to successfully mark the first strike for the Lady Railsplitters at the 26:22 mark to even the score at 1-1. The hosting Saints strung a pair of goals together before junior midfielder Kelly Csenar found the back of the net in a man-up opportunity with a dish from sophomore attack Ali Van Der Ziel to keep the game within one.
 
Limestone responded with another back-to-back sequence to increase the lead back to three (2-5). Bain took advantage of a free-position opportunity to drop the deficit to two as the contest went to break.
 
In the final 30 minutes of play, the Saints ran free and marked seven-straight goals over the span of 5:31 of game time. Ali Van Der Ziel marked the final Lady Railsplitter goal of the afternoon with 19:59 left on the clock. Limestone closed the contests with two final goals to hold off the Lady Railsplitters, 4-14.
 
IN BETWEEN THE PIPES
LU – Madelyn DeSoto started the game in net for the Saints allowing three goals in the first half. Teja Gallop started the second half and contributed with two saves and one goal against. Adrianna Richards closed the game with one final save for Limestone.
LMU – Sophomore goalkeeper Keegan Gillman posted 21 saves in goal today, one shy of the Lady Railsplitter lacrosse single-game record (22). Marking a .600 save percentage.
 
TEAM STATS
LMU trailed in shots (10-48), free-position shots (2-11), draw controls (3-15), assists (3-8), shots on goal (7-35), ground balls (22-37), successful clears (13-15), caused turnovers (13-20), and led in turnovers (32-19).
 
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Today's loss marks the first-ever meeting between the Lady Railsplitters and Saints.
 
UP NEXT!
The Lady Railsplitters will travel to Wingate, North Carolina, for another conference matchup against the Wingate Bulldogs on Mar. 28, for a scheduled first draw at 12:00 p.m.
