HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team attempted to complete a two-set comeback at Coker, but the Cobras prevailed in four (25-22, 25-19, 25-27, 25-13) on Friday night at the DeLoach Center. The match between the Railsplitters (6-14, 4-8 South Atlantic Conference) and Cobras (5-14, 2-11 SAC) was the second of three in consecutive days for Lincoln Memorial.
Set 1: Coker 25-19
A 7-0 run midway through the opening set gave the hosts a 13-6 lead, but the Railsplitters would steadily trim the deficit until a 3-0 spurt consisting of kills from
Makayla Fox and
Ketura Margaret got the visitors to within one point at 22-21. The Cobras rallied back to take 3 of 4 points to clinch the set. Fox, Margaret,
Sierrah Lemons and
Maggie Sanderson all had multiple kills in the opening frame for the Railsplitters.
Set 2: Coker 25-17
After the Railsplitters led 8-6 early, Coker went on an 8-1 run to take a 14-9 advantage, and they would lead by at least two points the rest of the way. Margaret and Sanderson contributed two kills each to the Lincoln Memorial attack.
Set 3: Lincoln Memorial 27-25
Back-and-forth early, a 4-1 Coker run gave the hosts a 16-13 advantage midway through the period. The Cobras would extend the edge to as much as four points at 21-17 and 22-18, but the visitors would take 9 of the final 12 points to extend the match.
Emma Winford clinched the set with an ace while Sanderson posted two kills during the deciding rally. Sanderson's seven kills and Margaret's five propelled the Railsplitters to win the third frame.
Set 4: Coker 25-13
After the Railsplitters led 5-4 early, Coker took control with a 5-0 run to lead 9-5. Later 4-0 and 5-0 spurts created separation the hosts used to clinch the set and match. Margaret, Lemons,
Katie Bedel and
Abigail Kesler put down two kills each in the final frame.

Lincoln Memorial had more kills than Coker (47-45) even while being outhit by over 100 points (.179-.069).
