Men's Volleyball Victorious in Four Sets over Queens

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Despite dropping the opening set on Friday night, the No. 15 Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball program captured their seventh-straight win after defeating the Queens Royals in four sets (23-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-16).
 
The Railsplitters (7-0) kept the Royals (5-5) at a .171 hitting percentage for the match with the defense forcing Queens to hit negative overall in the second set. Overall for the match, LMU recorded a .352 team hitting percentage with 49 total kills.
 
The Royals came out of the gates swinging as they jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, but moments later, a four-point rally by LMU evened things up at 8 apiece. Queens retook the lead, 14-12, after using a four-point rally, and held onto the lead for the remainder of the set. Lincoln Memorial tried to mount a comeback, but the Royals went onto capture set one, 25-23.
 
Lincoln Memorial rebounded in the second set as the defense awoken and held the Rpyals to a negative hitting percentage in the frame. LMU raced out to a 9-5 lead, but Queens was able to close in just moments later. Using a 5-1 run, the Railsplitters took a 19-10 lead and did not look back as they capture set two, 25-14.
 
The third set came out as a battle to begin things, but the Railsplitters found some separation after a four-point rally to take a 16-10 lead. The Royals tried to mount the comeback, but Lincoln Memorial was able to close out the third set, 25-18.
 
The Railsplitters jumped out to an early 7-4 lead, but Queens was able to pull to within two before a four-point Lincoln Memorial rally put the Splitters up 13-7. Both programs traded points till LMU held a 19-15 lead. A five-point rally pushed the Blue and Gray lead to 24-15 before moments later a huge block by Cole Campisano and Matthew Gentry sealed the win for the Splitters, 25-16.
