GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball program traveled to South Carolina first their first road series, but fell in the series opener to Lander on Friday night.

Lander did not take long to get their bats going, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first on a two-run home run by DeRubeis. The Railsplitters answered in the top of the second as Kevin McCarthy knocked one up the middle to get a runner on. Both defenses went into lock down mode as the next three innings saw no runs as both offenses went three up, three down.

Ryan Kurth then doubled to left field to bring both LMU runners to scoring position. Jaeger Keeline then hit a sacrifice fly to bring one run in. McCarthy was able to notch an RBI single later in the inning, but Lander still held the lead, 7-3.
