HARROGATE, Tenn. – For the third consecutive year, the Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball program earned the title of 2021-22 SAC Regular Season Champions after defeating Limestone, 85-72, on Saturday afternoon.
The Railsplitters got things going early out of the gate, breaking out to an early 6-0 lead before extending that lead to 11-4 at the 16:16 mark. Ben Gahlert brought the Saints to within two after the under-12-minute media. Lincoln Memorial tried to create some separation, but Limestone kept up every step of the way, down only two at the under-8-minute media.
The Saints took the lead for a brief moment towards the break as a pair of free throws put them up 34-32 over LMU. The Railsplitters kicked it in to high gear right before the half as the Blue and Gray retook the lead, and into the half, 40-37 over Limestone.
The Saints got hot to begin the second half as they raced to a 52-46 lead over LMU, but the Railsplitters stormed back and retook the lead, and never gave it back up, as they went onto create separation needed. Lincoln Memorial did not look back as they went onto secure the win, 85-72.
Junior
Jordan Guest lead the Splitters with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting on the afternoon, and he also added six rebounds and four assists to his line.
Me'Kell Burries followed with 17 points with two rebounds and two assists.
Martez Brown neared a double-double as he finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Railsplitters earned a share of the regular season title with Queens, but is the No. 1 seed for the 2022 SAC Men's Basketball Championship and will host the quarterfinal round game. The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears will make another trip through the mountains on Wednesday, March 2 for a 7 p.m. tip off inside Tex Turner Arena.
