Men's Lacrosse Victorious in Home Opener

HARROGATE, Tenn. – For the first time in 731 days, the Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse team hosted a true home event with the Railsplitters hosting Young Harris on a cold night. Lincoln Memorial got out early and never looked back as they captured their first win of the season, 16-3, over the Mountain Lions.

It was Young Harris who tallied the first goal at the LMU Lacrosse Complex, but it did not take long for the Railsplitters to get to work. Aiden Smith evened things up at 1 all at the 9:58 mark in the first. Kevin Jendrasik followed just moments later to give the Splitters the lead, which the Splitters held the remainder of the contest.

Sophomore Blake Moxim tallied his first of the afternoon after getting the assist from freshman Francis O'Hara. Carson Bowling closed out the scoring in the first as he put the Splitters up 4-1 after 15 minutes of play.

Lincoln Memorial's offense got right back to work in the second as back-to-back tallies at the 11:51 and 11:39 mark put LMU up 6-1. Young Harris cut the LMU lead in half with a pair of goals to close out the second quarter with the Railsplitters leading 6-3.

Lincoln Memorial's defense built a wall and did not allow another goal the remainder of the contest. The Railsplitters also posted a clean slate on the penalty side, committing no penalties in the second half. LMU furthered their lead by three in the third as Brock Saunders, Francis O'Hara and Caleb Raydo all got in on the action.

The fourth quarter was all Lincoln Memorial as the Splitters posted a seven-goal fourth period to secure the win over the Mountain Lions, 16-3. The win over YHC marks the first home victory in two years, dating back to February 26, 2020 in a win over Davenport.

O'Hara and Brock Saunders each notched a hat trick for the Railsplitters on the afternoon. Raydo and Jendrasik each finished with two scores a piece. Haden Berry dominated the face-off x as he won 13-of-20 faceoffs on the afternoon. Hunter Rinehart picked up his first collegiate win after notching nine saves in the victory.
