Hit Parade Makes Railsplitters Victorious over Lions

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball program got back in the win column after using a huge hitting game to defeat a familiar face in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon, winning 13-4 over Mars Hill at Lamar Hennon Field.

The Lions got on the board first on an RBI single from Lala that brought in Lee from third, but it did not take long for the hot hitting bats of Lincoln Memorial as Collin Goda was able to land a single before Chris Hall was hit by the Mars Hill pitcher, giving LMU two runners on. The Railsplitters were able to even things up with an RBI single from Cameron Bowen.

LMU took the lead on the next at bat as Bowen was able to steal second and the Mars Hill catcher overthrew the base, allowing Hall to score on the error by the Lions.

Ethan Bobo and the Lincoln Memorial defense gave up just one hit in the fourth as Bobo picked up a strikeout and the defense forced a fly out and a ground out. The Railsplitters were able to extend their lead as Sam Mast blasted one over the left field wall for a three-run home run, taking a 5-1 lead.

The Lions found some offense in the fifth as they cut into the LMU lead by one, making it 5-2 Lincoln Memorial. A two-run fifth by the Railsplitters offense saw them regain their five-run lead going into the sixth.

Lincoln Memorial saw a six-run sixth inning starting off with another three-run inside the park home run from Mast, making it 10-2 LMU. Just moments later, Goda was able to knock down an RBI single, scoring Tyler Boyd. Carson Boles got in on the action with a two RBI single to center, bringing the score to 13-2 Railsplitters.

Mars Hills went onto score just twice more in the contest as the pitching staff and crew were able to get out of jams. The Railsplitter defense shut down the Lions in the ninth, giving the Railsplitters the 13-4 win over Mars Hill.
