WISE, Va. – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball program went on a hit parade in the series opener at UVA Wise as the Railsplitters routed to Cavaliers in game one, 17-4, on Friday evening.
It all got started in the first as
Chris Hall did not take long to get the party started as he single through the left side before being advanced to third on a double from
Carson Boles moments later. The first error of the day for the Cavaliers came after an attempt of throwing down
Sam Mast at first after the strikeout went errant, allowing Hall to score and putting runners in scoring position. The Railsplitters were able to notch another run on an RBI ground out to take a 2-0 lead.
UVA Wise responded swiftly in the bottom of the first as they took a 4-2 lead after a double brought in two runs to make it 3-2 before an extension by one on an RBI single from Drzemiecki.
Lincoln Memorial tightened up on defense after evening things up in the top of the third on an
Andrew Keene two-run home run to right center field, making it 4-4.
Bryce Woody and the pitching rotation steady and dialed in not allowing another run the rest of the contest.
The Railspltter offense then awoken in the fourth, producing a five-run inning highlighted by a RBI double from
Brandon Parrott, scoring Hagan, Mast and Boles. Before that,
Tucker Hagan ringed a single to the shortstop, allowing LMU to load the bases for Parrott as Lincoln Memorial went into the fifth up, 9-4.
Lincoln Memorial increased their lead by one in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Mast, allowing Hall to tag up and run home, making it 10-4.
Another big offensive output in the sixth allowed the Railsplitters take a double-digit lead on a Mast RBI single to center, scoring
Cameron Bowen.
Keene went onto give LMU a 17-4 lead after his third home run of the contest, a two-run shot to center field, bringing in
Kasten Harvey in the process.
The Railsplitters saw some new faces on the field as
Jaylen Morgan made his first appearance on the mound for the 'Splitters, tossing one, flawless inning.
Andrew Keene led the Railsplitters on the day, finishing the evening going 3-for-5 at the plate with three runs and five runs batted in.
Bryce Woody picked up his second win on the season after going 6.0 innings and striking out seven in the process.

The Railsplitters and Cavaliers will return to the diamond on Saturday, March 19 for a doubleheader to decide the series. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. ET.
