HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse battled on Saturday afternoon but fell at the hands of nationally ranked Limestone at the LMU Lacrosse Complex, 13-6.
The Railsplitters' (3-7, 1-3 SAC) got out to a successful defensive start, limiting the No. 7 Saints (6-1, 2-1 SAC) to just one goal in the first quarter. Lincoln Memorial was able to get on the board first, notching the first goal of the contest at the 4:33 mark on a shot by
Rhodes Conroy with the assist from
Kevin Jendrasik. Limestone answered quickly as Dorian Faster notched a goal moments later, bringing the score to 1-1 after 15 minutes.
Limestone controlled the second quarter from the opening whistle as they raced out to a 6-1 lead at the half with a five-goal performance in the second behind five different goal scorers.
Lincoln Memorial was able to cut into the Saints' lead on goals behind
Aiden Smith and
Brock Saunders, as Smith tallied his second of the contest to bring the Spltters to within five, but Limestone was able to extend their lead back to six and more, moments later, taking a 12-4 lead after three quarters.
The Railsplitters found the net twice in the fourth courtesy of
Caleb Raydo and
Carson Bowling, but it was not enough as the Saints were able to add an insurance goal before closing out the contest with the win, 13-6, over LMU.
