FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lincoln Memorial Universtiy got back on the court for the first time in more than a week as they took on Emmanuel on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Lions 3-0 to take the season series.
The Railsplitters (11-7) got out to a quick start as they took a 7-3 lead behind early offensive output from
Dawson Walker. The Lions (9-10) were able to get things going offensively as they cut the LMU lead down to one, but Lincoln Memorial stood tall on the defensive side of the net as
Matthew Gentry led the Splitters to a 21-13 lead on a five-point run before the Railsplitters ultimately took the first set, 25-15.
Lincoln Memorial was able to match their offensive output to start set two as they raced out to a 5-2 lead, but Emmanuel was able to close the gap early, cutting the lead down to 5-4. The Lions were able to keep things interesting over the next few serves as they held the Splitters to just a two-point lead at 12-10. Using a five-point run, the Railsplitters were able to extend their lead in order to secure the second set, 25-16.
The Lions were able to keep things interesting as they battled the Railsplitters to a 5-5 draw to open the third set. Lincoln Memorial was able to create some separation, but Emmanuel was able to cut the separation to make it 11-11. The Railsplitters were able to push their lead to 24-18, but Emmanuel was able to even things up at 24 before LMU was able to take the third set after capturing the 25
th and 26
th point to take the match.
Dawson Walker paced the LMU offense with 10 kills while hitting .389 on the afternoon. Walker also paved the way with four total blocks on the defensive side of the net.
Kohl Kutsch notched 32 assists to help to Blue and Gray offense on the day.

The Railsplitters will head to the Carolinas for a two-game trip beginning with Queens on Friday, March 25. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in Charlotte.
