Men's Volleyball Sweeps Royals on Friday Night

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball was back in action on Friday night as they traveled through the mountains to the Queen City and will come back to Tennessee with a straight-set win over Queens.
 
The Royals were able to jump out to a quick lead, but the Railsplitters responded swiftly with a four-point run to take an 8-5 lead. Lincoln Memorial saw their lead grow to 15-8 before Queens was able to slow the Blue and Gray offense down for a moment. The 'Splitters were able to close out the first set with a 25-16 win after using a 3-2 run to close out the set.
 
Queens was able to jump out to an early 3-0 lead before Lincoln Memorial was able to close in, evening things up at 5-5. The Royals were then able to settle down offensively, connecting on attempts and forcing offensive mistakes by the Railsplitters. The Royals were able to run their lead up to 12-8 before the Railsplitters were able to close the gap to one. Queens then broke out to a 19-13 lead and looked poised to capture the second set, but Lincoln Memorial had second thoughts. The Railsplitters were able to settle down and rattle off 7-1 run to close out the second set with a 27-25 win.
 
The Royals again raced out to a quick lead, but Lincoln Memorial was able to get back to the lead with a 5-1 run to make it 12-10 LMU. Queens pulled to within two, but the Railsplitters were able to tame the Royals to secure the set three, and match, with 25-18 over Queens.
 
Matthew Gentry finished the evening with a team-high 10 kills and added four total blocks to his line in the win. Kohl Kutsch tallied 25 assists, six digs and four total blocks in the contest. Dawson Walker continued to be dominant on the defensive end as the junior finished the night with six total blocks.

The Railsplitters will head to South Carolina for a match with the Saints of Limestone on Saturday, March 26th. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. ET in Gaffney.
