GREENVILLE, S.C. – The No. 7 Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball team battled for 40 minutes but fell in the semifinals of the SAC Men's Basketball Championship to Carson-Newman, 78-66, on Saturday evening.
The Railsplitters got things going in the first behind a driving layup from
Me'Kell Burries before Carson-Newman responded with a 90-foot drive of their own.
Alex Dahling got in the action at the 16:48 mark to put the Splitters back on top. The Eagles then went onto control the pace of the first over the remaining minutes, but Lincoln Memorial was able to stay close. The Railsplitters saw them retake the lead at the 2:35 mark, but the Eagles were able to respond as they took the lead into the break, 35-34.
Lincoln Memorial was able to get some offense going to begin the second half as they saw the lead at the 17:41 mark, but the Eagles responded and provided more to be able to extend their lead over the Splitters. Carson-Newman was able to keep up their offensive and defensive pressure over the remaining minutes as they closed out the win, 78-66, over Lincoln Memorial.
Junior
Jordan Guest paced the Railsplitters with 15 points in the affair and pulled down seven rebounds. Redshirt sophomore
Chase Rankin followed with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals.

The No. 7 Railsplitters will wait to see where they will be placed in the 2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament. LMU is currently ranked second in the NCAA Southeast Region. The NCAA Division II Selection Show is slated to take place on Sunday, March 6 at 10:30 p.m. EST.
