Men's Volleyball Drops Opener at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball program got back in action on Saturday but fell at the hands of No. 13 Ohio State in three sets (29-31, 12-25, 19-25).

The first set was a war from the first serve. The Buckeyes jumped out to a 5-3 lead, but the Railsplitters quickly closed the gap inside the Covelli Center. Taking a 19-14 lead, Ohio State seemed like they were going to capture the first set easily, but Lincoln Memorial had other plans as they used a five-point run to bring the Buckeye lead to one, 23-22. The Splitters forced the first set to extra points, but Ohio State was able to capture the first set with a three-point run to close it out, 31-29.

The Buckeyes dominated the second set from the start, breaking out to a 7-1 lead. The Railsplitters found some offense, but it remained quiet as the Buckeye defense was able to stand tall, leading Ohio State to a set two win, 25-12.

The Railsplitters jumped out to an early lead over the Buckeyes, but Ohio State cranked out a five-point run to take a 12-7 lead. Lincoln Memorial crawled their way back as they got as close as two points off the Buckeye lead. LMU made it 21-19 OSU, and the Buckeyes closed out the third set with a four-point run to take the third set, 25-19.
