WINGATE, N.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse program got back on the field but fell in South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday afternoon to No. 6 Wingate, 19-2.
The Bulldogs got their offense going from the opening whistle as they took an 8-1 lead after 15 minutes of play.
Christian Cliff was able to get a pause in the Wingate scoring barrage at the 2:17 mark, but the Bulldogs answered once more before heading to the second.
Another big quarter by Wingate allowed the nationally ranked Bulldogs to take the lead into the half time break, 15-1.
The Railsplitters defense was able to settle down coming out of the break, but Wingate was able to push their lead further down the stretch to 19-1 with 15 minutes left to play.
Francis O'Hara tallied the lone other goal for the Railsplitters on the afternoon at the 3:02 mark in the fourth, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs were able to stay steady on defense to capture the win, 19-2.
