GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball were able to keep the offense rolling in order to take the series sweep over Limestone on Saturday after taking game two, 6-0, before closing out the series with a 5-1 win in game three.
Game One – Lincoln Memorial 6, Limestone 0
The Railsplitters were able to get a runner on early, but the Saints pitching came out firing, getting out of the top of the first just moments after
Chris Hall was walked.
Bryce Woody was able to stay on the hot switch, notching two pick-off attempts in the bottom of the first in order to get the Splitters out of the jam early.
Lincoln Memorial was able to then put on a hitting show in the second.
Sam Mast got the inning started by being hit by the pitch before a
Kasten Harvey was able to single through the left side, getting runners in scoring position. A
Chris Hall single in later on in the inning gave LMU a 2-0 lead as Harvey and Mast were able to tag home.
Cameron Bowen then was able to lay down the RBI single to give the Railsplitters a 4-0 lead after the second.
Woody and the Railsplitter defense was able to keep the bats of Limestone at bay, giving up just three hits throughout game one, but the Saints were able to return the favor as they were able to settle down and hold the bats of LMU at bay till the ninth.
Lincoln Memorial was able to tack onto their lead in the ninth on a
Carson Boles single to right, allowing Bowen and Hagan to tag home, giving the Railsplitters a 6-0 lead before
Kevin Norton was able to come in the bottom of the ninth for Turner, gave up one hit, but was able to get the Saints out of the inning to give LMU the 6-0 win.
Game Two – Lincoln Memorial 5, Limestone 1
The Railsplitters were able to conitue their offensive presence in the beginning of game two on the day as Hall picked up a walk before swiping second in the steal attempt. LMU got a runner all the way to third, but the Saints were able to get out of the inning with no damage done.
A quick one, two, three inning to end the first sent it to the second where Lincoln Memorial was able to pick up right where they left off with a double down the left line by
Sam Mast before
Kasten Harvey picked up a walk, giving the 'Splitters two runners on.
Tucker Hagan continued to shine on the weekend as he picked up an RBI single, scoring Mast and giving LMU a 1-0 lead.
Limestone was able to get a runner on in the second on a double down the left field line, but
Alex Brewer and the Railsplitter defense were able to buckle down and get out of the jam.
Another pitcher's duel came around as the score held in favor of LMU, 1-0, until the fifth as the Lincoln Memorial offense was able to create some separation. Harvey was able to get the sacrifice fly, scoring
Ryan Kurth before Mast was able to tag home on a throwing error by the Saints shortstop, giving LMU a 3-0 lead after five innings.
The Railsplitters went onto extend their lead by two in the sixth behind another sacrifice fly and a
Ryan Kurth home run to left field.
Limestone was able to tag home in the sixth on a solo home run by Shugan, but it was not enough as Nichols came in for relief and was able to strike out two and force the ground out in the seventh to give the Splitters the 5-1 win.

The Railsplitters will look to the midweek as they head north to battle the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State on Tuesday, April 12. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. EST in Institute, West Virginia.
