Women's Lacrosse Suffers Setback Versus Queens

HARROGATE, TENN. – Taking on the number one ranked team in the country, LMU women's lacrosse had their hands full Saturday afternoon. After battling through the whole game, the Royals just proved to be too much, as they came away with a 25-5 victory.

The Royals jumped out to a 6-0 lead less than seven minutes into the game to take control of the game early on. Jaedyn Ryba ended the run with an unassisted goal. Queens scored again before LMU netted two in a row, one each off the sticks of Chandler Bell and Ali Van Der Ziel. The visitors tallied a late first quarter goal to lead 8-3 after 15 minutes of play.

Two more goals to open the second period got Queens into double-digits. Ali Van Der Ziel got her second of the game to end that run, this one off a pass from Rudi Lyles. The Royals however, would answer back with two more goals. Van Der Ziel once again answered back, as she secured a hat trick to cut into the lead. Queens scored the final goal of the half to head into the halftime break up 14-5.

Queens closed out the game in the second half, scoring 11 straight goals to end the contest and maintain the unbeaten record.

Van Der Ziel scored three goals on the game, while Ryba and Bell each had one. Lyles picked up the lone assist of the game for LMU. Lyles, Bell, and Avery Van Der Ziel all fielded multiple groundballs.

The defense caused five turnovers throughout the game, and Elle Miller and Keegan Gillman combined to make 12 saves in net.
