@SplittersWVB Drops Match to Anderson

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team fell to Anderson (25-20, 25-23, 25-12) Friday night in Mary Mars Gymnasium. The Railsplitters (5-10, 3-4 South Atlantic Conference) were up late in the second set, but the Trojans (11-3, 5-2 SAC) stormed back to win it and cruised in the final frame.

Set 1: Anderson 25-20
The Trojans led 7-4 early after a 3-0 scoring spurt, but Lincoln Memorial took the lead after a 3-0 run of its own highlighted by a Kristen Moehring kill for an 11-10 advantage. Anderson took 7 of 10 points from there, but back-to-back Maggie Sanderson kills for the Railsplitters cut the deficit to one at 17-16. A subsequent 5-point Anderson scoring rally gave the Trojans separation to close out the set. Moehring's four kills paced the Lincoln Memorial offense in the opening frame, while Sanderson contributed two kills and four digs.

Set 2: Anderson 25-23
Moehring's three consecutive kills and an ace from Abigail Kesler helped form a 5-point run for the Railsplitters to take a 10-4 lead early. Lincoln Memorial would hold at least a 2-point edge during the middle of the frame, but the Trojans came back with a 5-0 run of their own late to go up 23-21. A kill by Noelle Knutsen clinched the set for Anderson. Moehring put down a team-best six kills while adding four digs in the final frame while MJ Trujillo and Emma Winford had six digs each in the backcourt.

Set 3: Anderson 25-12
An 8-1 stretch for the Trojans early in the set gave them separation at 13-4. A 4-0 run from Lincoln Memorial highlighted by an ace and a kill from Moehring got the hosts within seven at 19-12, but Anderson took the final six points to clinch the set and match. Sierrah Lemons posted three solo blocks in the final frame.
