@lmu_wbb Takes the Victory of the First Game in the New Year

Wise, Va – The Lady Railsplitters were on the road for their first game of the new year, taking on UVA Wise this Wednesday night. With a victory of 59-58 over the Cavaliers, LMU advances to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in conference.
 
In the 1st quarter, Saquita Joyner kicked things off with a jumper for 2 and later made a layup adding another 2 points. Alexa Smiddy made 2 3-pointers, followed by Lauren Flowers making another 3-pointer. Jordan Maney topped the quarter off with a 3-point jumper, increasing their lead to 16-7. There were 10 rebounds, 4 by Jordan Maney, 3 by Geovana Rios, 2 by Saquita Joyner, and 1 by Alexa Smiddy. In the 2nd quarter, Saquita Joyner put up 9 points, Alexa Smiddy put up 3 points, and Kadija Conteh put up 3 points. LMU had 8 rebounds, Saquita Joyner had 3, Chloe Savage had 2, Kadija Conteh had 2, Geovana Rios had 1.
 
In the 3rd quarter, Alexa Smiddy started the momentum with a fast break for 2 points. Saquita Joyner put up 4 points, Chloe Savage put up 3 points, and Lauren Flowers put up 2 points. Jordan Maney, Saquita Joyner, and Lauren Flowers each had rebounds in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, Geovana Rios started things off with a layup for 2 points, followed by a free throw for an additional point. Lauren Flowers put up a 3-pointer along with a layup for 5 total points. Saquita Joyner put up a jumper for 2 points, along with a free throw for 2 points and Kadija Conteh made a layup for 2 points. Lauren Flowers made a free throw off of a foul to increase the lead by 3. The Cavaliers came back but it was not enough, Geovana Rios sealed their fate with a made free throw putting the lead back to 2 points.
 
The Lady Railsplitters defeated the UVA Wise Cavaliers 59-58 this Wednesday night. Lincoln Memorial will be back in action Saturday January 7th, home, against Carson-Newman at 2 pm.
