Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team defeated UVA-Wise, 3-1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-15, 25-22), this evening at the Mary Mars Gymnasium. LMU was in control of most of the match with a hiccup in set two. This puts LMU at 8-11for the season and 2-7 in SAC play. UVA-Wise is 8-8, 2-7 in SAC play.

Set 1: LMU 25-19
The first set started with LMU giving up an early lead at 6-2. Moehring and Kesler had kills and a service ace by Pickett closed the gap to one point. Things stayed close until the 10-10 mark when LMU started pulling away. Attack errors by the Cavs and kills by Moehring and Kesler pushed the LMU lead to 24-19, where
Sierrah Lemons got the set-winning kill, 25-19.
Set 2: UVA-Wise 26-24
The second set started with LMU taking an early lead at 6-2 on kills by
Maggie Sanderson and Moehring. The Cavs would not go away and came back to catch LMU at 10-10. UVA-Wise would take a slight lead at 17-13 but LMU would come back and take a 23-20 lead on a kill by Moehring. The Cavs kept fighting and tied LMU at 23-23. A kill by
Megan Maier put LMU up set point, but a service error and two attack errors ended the match for LMU, 26-24.
Set 3: LMU 25-15
After the intermission, LMU got out to a quick 4-0 on two kills by Moehring and a service ace by
Katie Cardenas. UVA-Wise came back and tied the set at 6-6 on a ball handling error. The Lady Railsplitters caught a spark and started to pull away keeping a six-point lead until the end when kills by
Lauren Pickett, Kesler, and Sanderson put the set at 24-15. UVA-Wise had a service error to give LMU the win, 25-15.
Set 4: LMU 25-22
The fourth set proved to be a good test for the Lady Railsplitters. The Cavs pulled out and held a small lead up until 9-9. There would be a few ties until 14-14 when LMU started pulling away after a few attack errors on both sides, Kesler righted the ship with a kill which started a small rally for LMU. UVA-Wise would hang in there but ran out of time when Moehring had two kills to end the match, 25-22.

The Lady Railsplitters will be on the road at Newberry on Friday, the 13
th and at Wingate on Saturday.
