Women's soccer ties Mars Hill with late goal

Harrogate, TN -- Three days after taking down Coker at home, the Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team was back in Harrogate for another conference match up. Mars Hill came to town on Tuesday seeking a bounce back win after falling 0-1 to Catawba just days prior. The Lady Lions hadn't scored in nearly 500 minutes of game time. However, that changed on Tuesday.

Mars Hill came out aggressive early on, looking to break its scoring drought. The Lions fired four shots in the first two minutes of the game. Mars Hill scored its first goal in nearly 500 minutes when Ashley Lindsay scored in the 10th minute of the game on the assist from Chloe Halis, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead.

The game remained in Mars Hill's favor until its goalkeeper was given a red card in the box, granting the Lady Splitters a pentaly kick in the 88th minute. Carla Wilson made the most of the opportunity, netting the attempt and tying the game. With only a few minutes remaing in the game following the pentalty kick, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

With the tie, the Lady Splitters moved to 7-2-2 overall with a 3-0-2 mark in conference play. Lincoln Memorial will be back on the field October 7th, as it travels to Salisbury, NC for a match up with conference foe Catawba. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 PM.
