ALBERTVILLE, Ala. – The Lincoln Memorial softball team split its two games in the first day of the Charger Chillout on Friday.

The No. 20 Railsplitters (7-1) beat UIndy 6-4 in the first game before being hit with their first loss of the season in a 12-4 Mississippi College victory.

Game 1: Lincoln Memorial 6, UIndy 4

The Railsplitters got a go-ahead 3-run homerun from
McKenzie Henry in the bottom of the 5
th inning to take a 5-4 lead, and pitcher
Emma Frost shut down the Greyhounds in the 6
th and 7
th innings to give Lincoln Memorial the win.

Indianapolis got on the board first with a single run in the top of the 1
st inning before an RBI double from Henry and a bases loaded walk by
Katy Pozzuto propelled the Railsplitters to a 2-1 edge. The Greyhounds got single runs in the 3
rd, 4
th, and 5
th innings before Henry's big blast.
Victoria Conley provided an insurance run with an RBI double later in the 5
th that plated
Sterre den Duijn and served as the final run of the game.

Frost struck out 11 while allowing 4 runs over 7 innings to improve to 4-0 in the pitchers mound on the season. UIndy's Kenzee Smith took the loss.

Game 2: Mississippi College 12, Lincoln Memorial 4

The Choctaws scored the first 11 runs of the contest (2 in the 1
st inning, 4 in the 2
nd and 5 in the 3
rd) to claim the win.

Anna Kate Reichter had a pair of RBI singles for the Railsplitters, while Pozzuto had 2 knocks, an RBI and a run scored. Conley,
Elora Wilmot and
Kassidy Miller saw their first action of the season in the pitchers circle.
