ALBERTVILLE, Ala. – The Lincoln Memorial softball team split its two games in the first day of the Charger Chillout on Friday.

The No. 20 Railsplitters (7-1) beat UIndy 6-4 in the first game before being hit with their first loss of the season in a 12-4 Mississippi College victory.

Game 1: Lincoln Memorial 6, UIndy 4

The Railsplitters got a go-ahead 3-run homerun from McKenzie Henry in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a 5-4 lead, and pitcher Emma Frost shut down the Greyhounds in the 6th and 7th innings to give Lincoln Memorial the win.

Indianapolis got on the board first with a single run in the top of the 1st inning before an RBI double from Henry and a bases loaded walk by Katy Pozzuto propelled the Railsplitters to a 2-1 edge. The Greyhounds got single runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings before Henry's big blast. Victoria Conley provided an insurance run with an RBI double later in the 5th that plated Sterre den Duijn and served as the final run of the game.

Frost struck out 11 while allowing 4 runs over 7 innings to improve to 4-0 in the pitchers mound on the season. UIndy's Kenzee Smith took the loss.

Game 2: Mississippi College 12, Lincoln Memorial 4

The Choctaws scored the first 11 runs of the contest (2 in the 1st inning, 4 in the 2nd and 5 in the 3rd) to claim the win.

Anna Kate Reichter had a pair of RBI singles for the Railsplitters, while Pozzuto had 2 knocks, an RBI and a run scored. Conley, Elora Wilmot and Kassidy Miller saw their first action of the season in the pitchers circle.
