@LMUWLAX Falls Short Against Lander

Harrogate, TNĀ
The Lady Railsplitters were back home this weekend to take on the Lander Bearcats from Greenwood, SC. The Railsplitters fell short with a final score of 11-7.

These two teams met last year in Greenwood, where the Railsplitters fell 19-9. They came out in the first half looking for a better result.

Ryann Doyle got the first draw control of the game to get the ball on the offensive side right off the bat. Chandler Bell had a lane, but the shot was not there. Lander got the first goal just 2 minutes into the first quarter. LMU then struck back with a goal from Ryann Doyle and an assist from Ali Van Der Ziel.

Doyle picked up another draw control getting it to the offense where a few minutes later, Camdyn Bullard would get the first goal of her collegiate career, making the score 2-1. Lander was able to tie the game back up with a goal shortly after. Kayla Harrington saw an opportunity while the Railsplitters were man-up and took it, getting herself a goal and making it the first of her collegiate career as well.

LMU had the first goal of the 2nd quarter from freshman Josie Tinnerello making it the first of her career. Lander was able to tie it up, scoring two goals just a minute apart from one another. Chandler Bell scored a goal with an assist from Ali Van Der Ziel, making the score 5-4 at the half.

Turnover plagued third quarter led to four straight goals from the Bearcats, not allowing the Railsplitters to get on the board.

The Bearcats scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter, making that six straight goals against the Railsplitter defense. The Railsplitters were able to stop the 6-0 run with a goal from Kelly Csenar, her first of the year. Jaedyn Ryba also had a goal from a free position; however, it was too late, with the final score being 11-7.

Notables:
LMU had seven players score a goal, three of whom were freshmen.
Jaedyn Ryba had three groundballs.
Camdyn Bullard had two groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Ali Van Der Ziel had three assists.
Keegan Gillman had eight saves in the cage.

The Lady Railsplitters will travel to Florida next weekend to face Tampa and Flagler College.
