@LMU_Softball Caps off Charger Chillout with Two More Wins

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. – The Lincoln Memorial softball team collected another pair of 5-inning wins against Christian Brothers and Delta State on Sunday to post a 5-1 record at the Charger Chillout.
 
The No. 20 Railsplitters (11-1) run-ruled the Lady Bucs 10-2 before doing the same to the Lady Statesmen 11-0 to end the weekend on a 4-game winning streak.
 
Game 1: Lincoln Memorial 10, Christian Brothers 2
 
Christian Brothers scored twice in the Top of the 1st before Lincoln Memorial scored the final 10 runs of the game. Katy Pozzuto's bases loaded walk plated Kelsie Tuggle in the bottom half of the 1st, while Madison Henry's sac fly in the 3rd scored Katie Tuggle to tie the score at 2-2 before Lincoln Memorial's 8-run 5th inning.
 
Sterre den Duijn hit a walkoff 2-run double to right center field to score the Tuggle sisters and cap off the big inning. Pozzuto and Katie Tuggle had 2 RBI each earlier in the inning on base hits.
 
Hayley Tamaro allowed only the 2 unearned runs while striking out 5 and giving up only 2 hits in 5 innings for her 4th win of the season.
 
Game 2: Lincoln Memorial 11, Delta State 0
 
The Railsplitters scored 4 runs in the 2nd, 5 in the 4th and 2 in the 5th while shutting down Delta State's offense to go out on a high note.
 
Catcher McKenzie went 4-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored to lead the Lincoln Memorial offense, while her battery mate Emma Frost improved to 6-0 on the year with a 7-strikeout shutout of the Lady Statesmen.
