Me'Kell Burries has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
 
Burries, a redshirt sophomore guard from Newport, Ky., scored a career-high 31 points to lead Lincoln Memorial to a 92-79 win over UVA Wise on Wednesday night at Tex Turner Arena. The sharpshooter drained 11 of 17 (64.7 percent) field goals including 8 of 12 (66.7 percent) on 3-pointers in the regular season finale.
 
Burries averaged 12.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game on 48 percent shooting (39.9 percent) throughout the regular season.
 
This is the second weekly conference honor for Burries, who also earned the recognition on Jan. 9, and fourth overall for the Railsplitters this season (Chase Rankin on Jan. 16 and Quay Kennedy on Feb. 6).
 
Lincoln Memorial will host Coker on Wednesday in the SAC Tournament Quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
