@LMUbaseball Offense Explodes in Season-Opening Win

The Lincoln Memorial baseball team trounced Cedarville 25-5 in the season opener on Friday at Lamar Hennon Field.

Trailing 4-0 after the Top of the 4th, the host Railsplitters exploded for the 25 runs in only four innings, beginning with 7 runs in the 4th before 4 in the 5th, 6 in the 6th, and 8 in the 7th to start the year 1-0.

David Brian Ellison picked up the win after tossing innings 4-6 while giving up two runs and striking out three. Colin Murphy gave up only one run and struck out five as his three-inning save allowed the bullpen to be fresh for Saturday's doubleheader, which begins at noon.

Outfielder Collin Goda went for four hits and five RBI in seven at-bats as the star of the night offensively for the Railsplitters.

Nathaniel Adkins took the loss for the Yellow Jackets in head coach Matt Richter's first game leading the program from Ohio.
