Frost Throws Perfect Game and Hucklebee Sets Career RBI Record in @LMU_Softball Sweep at Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial softball team had a pair of historic achievements in Wednesday afternoon's doubleheader sweep over Tusculum at Red Edmonds Field, as Emma Frost threw a perfect game in Game 1, and Sierra Hucklebee broke the program's all-time career RBI record in Game 2.

The Railsplitters (19-10, 5-1 South Atlantic Conference) breezed to a 6-0 win in the first contest over the Pioneers (11-14, 0-6 SAC) before using a late-inning rally to win 8-3 in the second game.

Game 1: Lincoln Memorial 6, Tusculum 0

Frost struck out 5 batters among the 21 times they came to the plate and went back to the dugout in the perfect game effort. The ace got 9 flyouts and 7 groundouts while needing only 68 pitches to get through 7.0 innings in the masterful performance.

Offensively, the visiting Railsplitters plated a pair of runs in the 3rd inning on a Sterre den Duijn RBI single and a Kelsie Tuggle sacrifice fly before McKenzie Henry also tacked on a sac fly in the 4th to extend Lincoln Memorial's advantage to 3-0. Hucklebee hit an RBI double, and Henry knocked a 2-run homerun for a 3-run 6th inning for the game's final scoring.

Frost improved to 11-4 with the win, while Tusculum's Emily Sappington (5-7) took the loss after allowing 6 runs on 9 hits in 7.0 innings of work. Hucklebee pounded out 3 hits while Henry knocked in 3 RBI to lead the Lincoln Memorial offense.

Game 2: Lincoln Memorial 8, Tusculum 3

Trailing 3-2 entering the 6th inning, the Lady Railsplitters crossed the plate 5 times, including 4 runs with 2 outs, to put the game away and sweep the Pioneers.

Madison Henry hit an RBI single in the 2nd inning, and Kelsie Tuggle pounded a solo homerun to left field in the 4th to set up the big 6th for the Railsplitters, during which Hucklebee's single gave her 162 RBI in her career, passing Renae Carter ('05) for the most all-time at Lincoln Memorial.

Katie Tuggle (sac fly), den Duijn (2-RBI single) and Katy Pozzuto (RBI single) all knocked in runs with 2 outs before McKenzie Henry added another insurance tally with an RBI single of her own in the 7th inning to back starting pitcher Hayley Tamaro.

Tamaro allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits while striking out 4 in the complete game effort to improve to 6-5 on the year, while Ireland Cavanaugh (4-6) took the loss giving up 7 runs on 11 hits. Hucklebee again had a 3-hit game to pace the Railsplitters on offense.
