Outstanding Second Half Defense Leads the Railsplitters to a Win Over the Lions

Harrogate, TN

Men's Lacrosse took on the Mars Hill Lions in another SAC matchup for a midweek game.  The Railsplitters came out on top with a score of 12-7.

How it happened:
The first quarter started with Michael Rogers, causing a turnover to get it on the offensive end.  LMU was firing shots but missing the goal until Rhodes Conroy made it 1-0. Gavin Reid then had two back-to-back goals to make it a quick 3-0 with nine minutes left in the first.  Mars Hill got on the board from a goalie clear.  Matthew Wood picked up the next faceoff for Jenson Jones to get a goal.  Mars Hill scored just a few moments later to try and keep it close.  Kevin Jendrasik got on the board, making it 5-2.  Mars Hill scored again to continue to try and get some momentum until Gunner Cisko got himself a goal with an assist from Daniel Pearl.  The first quarter score ended 6-3.

Haden Berry got LMU started in the second quarter, winning the first faceoff.  However, the Railsplitters were unable to capitalize on it.  Mars Hill scored, making it within two.   They then scored twice to tie the game up 6-6.  After an LMU timeout, Ashton Wilson came up with the faceoff for Kevin Jendrasik to get his second goal of the game.   Mars Hill scored just a few minutes after to tie it up again, trying to find themselves a lead in this game.  Ashton Wilson came up again with a ground ball from the faceoff for the Railsplitters to get a few shots off.  Then, Rhodes Conroy got another goal, making it 8-7 at the half.

Jenson Jones scored the first goal of the third quarter with a man-up opportunity.  Jordan Sullivan and Michael Rogers were causing turnovers on the defensive side, making it hard for the Lions to try and get another goal.  With a failed clear attempt from the Lions, Gavin Reid was able to capitalize on it getting a goal to get them up by three.  A few seconds later, Haden Berry assisted Daniel Pearl in getting on the board.

Brock Saunders scored the game's last goal from a caused turnover by Conroy.  Defensively, LMU did not let the Lions score at all in the second half.  LMU out-shot the Lions 53-26 and had ten more caused turnovers.

Goalkeeper Hunter Rinehart did not allow a goal against him.
