@LMUbaseball Bats Break Out in Split at UVA Wise

WISE, Va. – The Lincoln Memorial baseball team split a series-opening doubleheader at UVA Wise's Stallard Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Railsplitters (22-16, 9-11 South Atlantic Conference) dismantled the Cavaliers (15-29, 4-16 SAC) 14-6 in Game 1 before the hosts had a comeback 8-7 win in Game 2.
 
Game 1: Lincoln Memorial 14, UVA Wise 6
 
The visitors scored the first 8 runs of the game, highlighted by a Cameron Bowen solo homerun in the 1st innings and a Ryan Kurth 3-run shot in the 3rd, to cruise to the opener win.
 
Kurth had another homer in the 8th inning to finish the game 3-for-5 with 2 runs and 4 RBI. In addition to Bowen and Kurth, Chris Hall also had 3 hits in Game 1.
 
Patrick Queener (4-3) got the win with 5.2 innings of 3-run ball, while Will Shelton threw the last 3.1 innings to be credited with his initial save of the year. The Cavaliers' Clayton Lanser fell to 0-5 after giving up 8 runs in 3.2 innings to start the game.
 
Game 2: UVA Wise 8, Lincoln Memorial 7 (7 innings)
 
UVA Wise stormed back from a 6-1 deficit, scoring 5 runs in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to salvage a doubleheader split.
 
The Railsplitters scored a pair of runs each in the 1st, 2nd and 4th innings highlighted by a 2-run homerun by Hall in the 4th. After the Cavaliers came back to tie the score at 6-6 after the 5th inning, Andrew Keene responded with an RBI double to give Lincoln Memorial a 7-6 edge. Cole Harness hit a go-ahead 2-run double in the Bottom of the 6th inning for the game-winning runs.
 
Bo Trantham (1-0) got the win in relief for the Cavaliers while Lincoln Memorial's David Brian Ellison (2-4) suffered the loss allowing the pair of runs in the 6th.
